Six of the best // Statement nursery nightlights

Getting the lighting right in your nursery is key to helping your baby establish a good sleeping pattern as light helps babies distinguish between night and day.

Flooding the nursery with light every time you feed your baby at 3am is going to confuse the poor thing and you may be in with them a lot longer than you bargained for coaxing the little tinker back to sleep. On the other hand if you don’t have enough light, not only will you feel even more sleepy during these ‘middle of the night’ feeds but you’ll be covered in bruises from bumping into things!

The soft glow of a night light is the perfect solution. I have picked my favourite statement night lights on the market at the moment, that look as good switched off as switched on.

top6nightlights1 // Aden + Anais Serenity Star – This is a multi-tasking must for every nursery. It’s the first system to combine an electronic feeding diary, room temperature indicator, sound machine, nightlight and clock all in one.( The feeding diary records and displays the last time feeding started. For breast-fed babies, it also records and displays the last breast side (L or R) from which baby was fed. The sound machine plays a selection of four soothing sounds; two lullabies, white noise and a heart beat in 30/60 minute intervals or continuously).

2 //Star Egg Nightlight –  Your little one can lie in their cot and gaze at a ceiling full of stars created by this cute nightlight. Available in seven glossy colours, this nightlight makes bedtime feel totally magical.

3 // Miffy Nightlight – Inspired by Dick Bruna’s legendary picture book rabbit Miffy, this light would make an amazing focal point in any nursery. Featuring a 5 step dimmer switch , it exudes a soft, warm glow which is ideal for storytelling with toddlers or those early morning feeds.

4 // Offi Dachshund MyPet Lamp – I adore this fun Offi MyPet Dachshund lamp. Made from non-toxic, odourless plastic, the low voltage bulb will bathe your nursery in a soft subtle light. Available in six colours: Soft White, Mellow Yellow, Sky Blue, Sunset Orange, Hot Pink and Misty Green, this lamp will add a great sense of fun to any nursery.

5 // Toadstool ‘ Boys’ Nightlight – The perfect nightlight for your little boy’s bedroom, this lovely toadstool lamp is covered in spots and features classic ‘boys toys’ around the base.

6 // White Rabbit Lamp – Made from bone china, this award-winning white rabbit gives off a soft glow at night and creates a lovely, reassuring environment for children to fall asleep. The white rabbit lamp is a fabulous addition to any nursery and looks as pretty switched on as switched off.
