Six of the best // Children’s halloween costumes

Oh halloween, how I love thee.

This love affair of ours has been a roller coaster over the years but I’m glad to say we are firmly on the up. After all what’s not to love about getting dressed up and eating your body weight in sweets!

It all started over 30 years ago when I was a wee nipper and used to dress up and go trick or treating with my sister. You came up trumps with your endless opportunities for filling my bucket with my favourite sweets and chocolates from my lovely neighbours!

But after the highs come the lows and unfortunately my love for you dwindled enormously in my late twenties, when I became a mum! Trick or Treaters and sleeping babes do not mix well!

But alas, I’m back, this time with a toddler and a schoolboy in tow who are now at the age where halloween is brilliant fun and once again I adore all the festivities that surround October 31st.

This year, we’ll be visiting Kenyon Hall Farm in Croft, Warrington during their annual Pumpkin Festival, where Phoebs and Jack can pick their own pumpkins and carve them with ‘Winnie the Witch and her fairies’.

I’ve also been browsing pinterest for brilliant ideas to decorate the home and researching halloween recipes that I can bake with the kids.

Here are two of my favourites:

In addition, last year I featured these fun, creative and inexpensive halloween craft ideas on the blog to get Jack and Phoebe in the mood for halloween, and they had a ball getting crafty, so we’ll definitely be getting our craft on again this year.

But one of the children’s favourite things to do at halloween is to get dressed up and as I am hopeless with a needle and thread, I’ve decided to pull together my top 6 children’s halloween costumes that are currently in the shops:

Halloween costumes

1 // Halloween Sequin Witch Fancy Dress Costume, ASDA, £8

Your little one will be the star of any Halloween party in this brilliant witch fancy dress outfit from ASDA.

2 // Kid’s Super Girl Dress, M&S, £18

Let’s be honest, not every child likes to dress up in a spooky outfit at halloween, so for those that don’t like scary outfits I’ve included this brilliant Super Girl dress. If only Phoebe was slightly older to fit in it!

3 // Child Skeleton Costume, TP fancy dress, £9.99

Perfect for Halloween parties and trick or treating, this comfortable skeleton costume includes a black all-in-one suit with hood featuring a skeleton bone design. Add white and black face paint to complete the look.

4 // Kid’s Pirate Boy Costume Dress Up, M&S, £18

Another outfit for the non-spooky outfit fans, Jack loves a good pirate outfit, so I’ve included this one for him!

5 // Halloween Bat Onesie Fancy Dress Costume, ASDA, £9

Featuring a fun character with eyes that eerily move about, ears on the hood and webbed wings, this hooded all-in-one is not only super cute, it’s ideal for toddlers thanks to it’s snug faux-fur finish.

6 // Kid’s Pumpkin Dress Up Costume, M&S, £12

Available in smaller sizes than the other outfits, this is the perfect outfit for babies and toddlers. How cute will your little one look dressed up as a pumpkin!?

How do you and your family celebrate halloween? Which outfit above do you prefer? Let me know in the comments below!
