If you’ve ever found yourself rushing to stop your buggy tipping backwards due to the excessive weight you’ve placed on the handles, or have a toddler on a buggy board, this review is for you.
I was recently sent the ingenious Hamster Buggy Bags and I’ve been totally bowled over by them.
If you’ve never heard of them, Hamster Buggy Bags are two spacious bags that attach to the sides of your buggy providing vital additional storage space, whilst ensuring your buggy stays upright and steady, even when the bags are full to bursting.
Suitable for most stroller type buggies, these zippable, award-winning pannier bags have various inside and outside pockets for all your essentials , a reflective stripe to be seen in the dark and they attach easily to the sides of your buggy using Velcro and quick release buckles.
The handy adjustable shoulder straps (that are neatly hidden from view when the bag is on the buggy) mean that you can continue to use these sporty looking bags as independent, stand-alone bags, long after the buggy is no longer needed. They are also ideal when you need to leave the buggy in a buggy park and you want to take your valuables with you; you simply unclip the bag and off you go.
I found attaching the Hamster Buggy Bags to my stroller a bit fiddly at first (but I was incredibly sleep deprived, and had limited brain function as I’d been up with a teething Phoebe most of the night!), but now the four velcro straps are in place, all I need to do is use the quick release buckles to add/remove the bags, which is a piece of cake. If you have more than one buggy, I would also recommend buying an extra set of fasteners so you can just leave a set on each buggy and move the bags when necessary.
The bags are deceptively spacious, each bag is roughly the size of a full plastic bag and with a recommended maximum weight limit of 5kg per bag, you can certainly carry all your essentials and more. The hard-wearing fabric is also showerproof and importantly for me, you don’t need to remove them when folding your buggy (you just need to ensure they are empty and detach the top strap).
When not in use, the bags fold inside out to create a small bag with a handle which is perfect for stowing away.
I’ve been using the Hamster Buggy Bags for just over a month now and I sometimes wonder how I coped without them, especially with the amount of ‘stuff’ I have to carry around as a mummy of two! Long gone are the days of feeling like a wally whilst picking the buggy up off the floor after taking Phoebe out and forgetting just how much I had on the handles and there is no more moaning from Jack that my bags are in his way whilst cruising around on the buggy board.
The Hamster Bugger Bags retail at £24.99 for the pair, which I think is excellent value for money. Just remember to check that your buggy is suitable for them on their buggy check page before you part with your pennies. Your buggy needs to be an ‘A-Frame buggy’ with bag stops at the top by the handles and an exposed frame by the seat where you can attach the lower velcro strap.
