Easy weaning // Yummy Wafer Wisps by Heavenly Tasty Organics

storyboard496Phoebe loves nothing more than eating! Seriously the girl has one heck of an appetite and she pretty much eats anything and everything you offer her, but I’m always looking for different tastes and textures to add into the mix. Thankfully Heavenly Tasty Organics got in touch to see if Phoebe would like to taste test their Yummy Wafer Wisps and with two unusual flavour combinations containing ‘superfoods’ I was keen to see how well they would go down. (spoiler – she loved them!)

Heavenly is the brainchild of Shauna McCarney-Blair who came up with the idea when her kids were small and she was frustrated by the limited choice of baby food in Northern Ireland particularly for children with certain allergies like her own. Currently well known in Northen Ireland and the Republic of Ireland for its healthy baby ready meals, it is now launching into the healthy snacks market and has just hit the UK mainland (via Ocado).

The Yummy Wafer Wisps are the first product in their range to reach our shores. They come in two unique and delicious flavour combinations: ‘Pumpkin & Banana’ and ‘Spinach, Apple & Kale’.

storyboard495They are suitable for littles ones from 6 months+ and are super healthy as they are made from organic fruit and vegetables, blended together with ancient grains like buckwheat. They contain no artificial colours or flavours and no added sugar or salt.

Both flavours of Wafer Wisp went down a storm with Phoebe and there were lots of shouts of ‘more’ (she hasn’t quite mastered please!) when she had gobbled her first one up. I really liked that they were relatively mess free and miraculously there weren’t any sticky hands in sight, which gives the Wafer Wisps a huge thumbs up from me! Additionally they just seem to dissolve in her mouth rather than taking ages to get through like rice cakes which pleases me, as I’m always so worried about her choking on anything, even at 14 months. They are also a decent size so I didn’t have to constantly refill her little hands like I do with other nibbles!

Each box contains 18 wafers that are divided into six individually wrapped packets of three biscuits. These handy packets are perfect for children on the go, to throw in your changing bag for trips out and even school lunch boxes.

I managed to take a sneaky bite for myself before handing them to the little gannet and both flavours are suprisingly tasty although I do prefer the banana and pumpkin ones. I can imagine that they are also delicious with a cream cheese topping (or similar) to make more of a meal for your little one.

Each box is priced at £2.19 which I think is pretty reasonable and on a par with comparable snacks and can be purchased via Ocado here. For more information visit the Heavenly site and you can also follow them on facebook and twitter too to keep up to date with their news.

Disclaimer*: We were very kindly sent the Wafer Wisps for Phoebe for the purpose of this review, however all words, opinions and photos are my own.
