The White Company // Christmas Eve Box Ideas

I’ve always loved Christmas but having children really does makes it oh so magical again.

Pre kids, Christmas Day was an excuse to stuff my face with turkey and consume far too many chocolates but these days, there is no better feeling that waking up to a morning of pure excitement. Their beaming faces and shrieks of delight are infectious and it really is such a magical day for all the family.

Christmas Eve has also changed. What was once an afternoon/evening of last minute wrapping has now become a wonderful family day with giddy children super excited over the impending arrival of a certain bearded man!

As a child, Christmas Eve is arguably the most exciting day of the year. I remember when I was little going to bed SO excited that I was unable to sleep and listening out intently for the jingling of bells to signal Father Christmas’ arrival! To make Jack and Phoebe’s Christmas Eve extra special, I recently came across the increasingly popular idea of a ‘Christmas Eve box’.

A Christmas Eve box is the perfect early Christmas present to get little ones excited for the big day. If you’ve never heard of them, in a nutshell, it’s basically a box of goodies designed to get your children excited about waking up the next morning. You can buy Christmas Eve boxes already made ‘off the shelf’ but most parents like to put them together themselves and make them totally suited to their child.

So what do you put into a Christmas Eve box?

If you’d like to start this lovely tradition, I’ve pulled together 8 fabulous ideas including lovely items from one of my favourite brands, The White Company:

eve box1 // You will obviously need a box to place all your goodies. You can buy personalised boxes such as these beauties from NOTHS or you can buy non-personalised (and cheaper) boxes such as this super cute festive box from Paperchase.

2 // The Snowman DVD, £6.99.

A Christmas DVD is a must on Christmas Eve. Nothing sets the mood better than a good old-fashioned Christmas movie to enjoy together as a family.

3 // I couldn’t resist including these sweet knitted Father Christmas decoration, £10.

4 // Reindeer Dust

Raid your craft box and the cereal cupboard to get your hands on some oats and glitter to make reindeer dust. Tell your little ones to sprinkle the magic mixture on the lawn to help guide Rudolph and his pals to your home. Reindeer dust is a lovely little snack that helps the reindeers to fly all night long don’t you know?!

5 // Reindeer Novelty Slipper Boots, £24

How cute are these Reindeer Slipper Boots?! From the antlers to the 3D ears to the little red pom-pom nose, your little ones will squeal with delight to find them in your Christmas Eve Box. Made from coral fleece, they will keep your little one’s feet really toasty and will go perfectly with the All Over Print Snowbear PJ set.

6 // All Over Print Snowbear PJs, £20

You can’t beat a pair of festive pyjamas and they don’t come more Christmassy than the All Over Print Snowbear PJ set from The White Company. Featuring the all-over snowbear motif on the snug elasticated bottoms, and a little appliqué in the middle of the top, they not only look fab, they are super comfy too.

7 // My Night Before Christmas Book, £6.99

What better book to read on Christmas Eve than My Night Before Christmas? It’s the perfect way to get your little ones excited for a visit from the bearded man in the big red suit.

8 // Lumi Polar Bear Teddy, £35

Little people love cuddly toys and they don’t come much cuter than this gorgeous Lumi Polar Bear.

Do you prepare Christmas Eve boxes for your children? If so what do you like to include in yours?
